If you tried lubuntu-desktop and decided you didn’t like it, you’d probably be right in thinking a quick removal of the lubuntu-desktop package would do the job. Well it didn’t (for me). Here’s how I fully removed it:
Open a terminal and run this command:
sudo aptitude purge abiword aqualung cheese epdfview galculator gnome-mplayer
gnumeric gpicview leafpad lubuntu-artwork lubuntu-default-settings lubuntu-desktop
lubuntu-plymouth-theme lxappearance lxdm lxinput lxlauncher lxrandr lxsession-edit
lxshortcut lxterminal mtpaint ntp obconf osmo parcellite pidgin powernowd
pyneighborhood simple-scan sylpheed transmission wvdial xarchiver xfburn
xfce4-taskmanager xserver-xorg-input-evtouch
In order to fully remove it.
